Shipping & Compatibility

Will RamTouch chargers work with my electric vehicle?

RamTouch Type 2 portable EV chargers are designed for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids equipped with a standard Type 2 charging inlet. They are suitable for many European, British and Australian EVs and PHEVs from brands such as Tesla, Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Hyundai, Kia, Peugeot, Renault, MG and more.

Actual charging speed depends on your vehicle’s onboard charger, battery condition, charging settings, socket capacity and local power supply.

Can I use a RamTouch charger with a plug-in hybrid vehicle?

Yes. RamTouch Type 2 chargers can be used with plug-in hybrid vehicles that have a Type 2 charging inlet. Many PHEVs have a lower onboard AC charging limit than full battery electric vehicles, so the actual charging power may be lower than the charger’s maximum rated output.

Which plug version should I choose?

Please choose the plug version that matches your wall socket exactly. UK 13A plugs are designed for standard BS 1363 UK 3-pin sockets. Schuko plugs are designed for compatible European household sockets. Blue IEC 60309 CEE plugs are normally used for single-phase industrial power. Red IEC 60309 CEE plugs are normally used for three-phase industrial power.

If you are unsure which version to choose, please send us a clear photo of your wall socket before ordering and our support team will help you confirm the correct option.

What if the charger plug does not match my home wall socket?

Please do not force the plug into a different socket or use uncertified third-party adapters. EV charging is a long-duration high-load application, so the input plug must match the socket type, voltage, current rating and wiring condition.

If the plug does not match your wall socket, stop using the product and contact us before charging. We can help you check whether you ordered the correct version and advise on suitable options.

Can I use a 7.4 kW or 11 kW charger if my car charges at a lower speed?

Yes. The charger’s rated power indicates the maximum output it can support under suitable conditions. Your vehicle will only draw the current allowed by its onboard charging system, battery management system and charging settings.

For example, if your vehicle can only accept 3.6 kW or 7.2 kW AC charging, it will not charge faster simply because a higher-rated charger is connected.

Why is my vehicle charging slower than the charger’s rated power?

Actual charging speed is controlled by several factors, including the vehicle’s onboard AC charger, battery state of charge, battery temperature, selected current setting, socket capacity, household wiring and local voltage.

The rated output of the charger is the maximum supported output under suitable conditions. It is normal for the displayed charging power to be lower in some vehicles or charging environments.

Do I need a wallbox, or can I charge directly from a socket?

A portable EV charger is designed to let you charge from a suitable wall socket or industrial socket without installing a fixed wallbox. However, the socket and electrical circuit must be correctly installed, undamaged, properly grounded and suitable for continuous load.

For frequent high-power charging, we recommend checking the electrical installation with a qualified electrician.

Where will my order ship from?

RamTouch orders are dispatched from regional fulfillment locations such as the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, depending on product availability and delivery address.

The exact dispatch location may vary by stock status and product model.

How long does delivery take?

Most orders are delivered within 2 to 5 business days in our main service regions, depending on the destination country, warehouse availability and carrier network.

Remote areas, peak seasons, public holidays and carrier delays may extend the delivery time.

Are there import duties or hidden customs fees?

For orders shipped from our UK or EU fulfillment centers to matching local regions, customers usually do not need to pay additional import duties at delivery.

If an order is shipped outside the local fulfillment region, customs rules may vary by destination. Please contact us before ordering if you need confirmation for a specific country.

Do you provide VAT invoices?

If you need a VAT invoice, please contact us with your order number, billing name, company name, VAT number if applicable, and billing address. We will help provide the appropriate invoice information based on your order channel and region.

Safety & Technical Standards

Is it safe to charge from a household socket?

Yes, provided that the socket is correctly installed, undamaged, properly grounded and suitable for continuous electrical load. EV charging places sustained load on the socket and wiring for several hours, so the condition of the electrical installation matters.

Do not use old, loose, cracked, discoloured, burnt, overheated, corroded or unstable sockets. If the socket condition is uncertain, reduce the charging current and consult a qualified electrician before use.

Will the charger damage my vehicle battery?

No. The vehicle controls the actual charging process through its onboard charger and battery management system. The EV charger supplies power within the selected and available current limit, while the vehicle determines how much current to draw.

Charging speed and behavior may change depending on battery temperature, battery level and vehicle settings.

What safety protections are included?

Depending on the model, RamTouch portable EV chargers may include multiple protection functions such as overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, undervoltage protection, leakage protection, overheating protection and grounding-related safety monitoring.

Please refer to the product page and user manual for the exact protection functions of your specific model.

Is the charger waterproof?

RamTouch portable EV chargers are designed with water and dust resistance suitable for normal outdoor charging conditions, depending on the model’s stated IP rating.

However, water resistance does not mean the product should be submerged, pressure-washed, left in standing water, or exposed to severe weather without protection. Always keep the plug, socket and connection points as dry and clean as possible.

Can I use the charger in rain?

Light rain or normal outdoor use may be acceptable when the product is used correctly and the plug, socket and connection points are protected. However, the wall socket, plug connection and any exposed electrical connection must not be left in standing water or direct heavy water exposure.

For safer outdoor use, keep the control box elevated, avoid puddles, protect the socket area, and stop charging immediately if water enters the plug, socket or control box.

Can I use an extension lead, cable reel or multi-socket adapter?

We do not recommend using household extension leads, cable reels, multi-socket adapters or low-rated extension cords for EV charging.

EV charging is a long-duration high-load application. The charger should be connected directly to a suitable wall socket or industrial socket whenever possible. If an extension solution is unavoidable, consult a qualified electrician and use only equipment rated for the required continuous load.

Why should I reduce the current on old household sockets?

Older sockets may have higher contact resistance due to wear, looseness, oxidation or poor installation. Under continuous load, this can cause heat build-up at the socket or plug.

Reducing the charging current can reduce electrical stress, but it does not repair a damaged or unsuitable socket. If the socket becomes hot, smells burnt, changes colour, sparks or feels loose, stop charging and have the installation checked.

What should I do if the plug or socket becomes warm?

A small amount of warmth during charging can be normal, but the plug or socket should not become hot, discoloured, deformed, burnt or produce a smell.

If abnormal heat is detected, stop charging immediately. Do not continue using the socket until it has been inspected. Heat at the wall socket is often related to socket condition, wiring quality, contact resistance or overload.

What standards do RamTouch products follow?

RamTouch EV charging products are designed around relevant EV charging standards and regional electrical requirements, depending on the product type and market. For example, Type 2 charging products are designed for vehicles and charging systems using the Type 2 interface.

Specific certifications and test references may vary by product model. Please check the product page or contact us if you need documentation for a specific item.

Can I use RamTouch chargers outdoors every day?

RamTouch chargers can be used outdoors when the product is rated for the environment and used correctly. For long-term outdoor charging, avoid leaving the control box or plug connection in direct standing water, snow, mud or prolonged heavy rain exposure.

We recommend keeping the control box off the ground and protecting the wall socket and plug connection from water ingress.

Operation & Troubleshooting

How do I adjust the charging current?

Select the required current before starting the charging session. The available current options depend on the model. Choose a current level suitable for your socket, wiring and circuit capacity.

If you are charging from an older household socket, a lower current setting is usually safer for long-duration charging.

Can I change the charging current while the vehicle is charging?

No. The current should be set before charging starts. During an active charging session, the vehicle controls the actual charging current through its onboard charging system.

To change the current setting, stop charging first, adjust the setting on the charger, and then restart the charging session.

Does the charger remember my previous settings?

Some RamTouch chargers can remember the previous current setting. Timer or delay settings may not be stored after every charging session, depending on the model.

Please refer to your product manual for the exact memory function of your charger.

Why does charging stop before the battery reaches 100%?

Charging may stop or slow down due to vehicle settings, scheduled charging, battery temperature, battery protection logic, current limits, socket condition or power supply fluctuations.

Please check the vehicle’s charging settings first. If the charger displays an error code, record the code and contact our support team with photos or a short video.

Why does my vehicle charge slowly in cold weather?

Cold battery temperature can reduce charging speed. Many vehicles limit charging current when the battery is cold to protect the battery system. Charging speed may improve after the battery warms up or when the vehicle’s battery preconditioning function is used.

Can I leave the charger connected after charging?

Once charging is complete, the vehicle will normally stop drawing charging current. However, for safety and product care, we recommend unplugging the charger when it is not in use for extended periods, especially outdoors or during severe weather.

Always remove the plug by holding the plug body. Do not pull the cable.

What should I do if an error code appears?

Stop charging and check the plug, socket, vehicle inlet and power supply condition. Make sure all connections are fully inserted and dry.

If the error remains, contact our support team with your order number, product model, photos of the setup, and a short video showing the error code. This helps us identify the cause more quickly.

Why does the charger show voltage or power changes during charging?

Voltage and power can fluctuate during charging due to household electrical load, grid voltage variation, vehicle charging control and battery state. Small changes are normal.

If the power drops sharply, charging stops repeatedly, or the plug becomes hot, stop charging and check the socket and electrical installation.

What is the difference between a portable EV charger and a Type 2 charging cable?

A portable EV charger includes a control box and connects to a suitable power socket to charge your vehicle. A Type 2 charging cable is used between a charging station and the vehicle.

Please choose according to your charging setup. If you need to charge from a wall socket, choose a portable EV charger. If you need to connect a socketed charging station to your vehicle, choose a Type 2 charging cable.
